Gosh it has been way too long since my last blog post. I have been poorly but during the good times I have done some lovely events. Here I was the guest of the National Trust at Cotehele for Meet the Artist. I was spoilt rotten with tea and scones whilst I chatted with visitors and stitched my mini embroidery rings. My artwork can be found in the Bull Pen Gallery https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/cotehele
I have lots more coming with me to our Open Studios which we will be hosting again at Isambard House (the renovated station building in Saltash). This year I will be sharing the glorious space with Melody James, Valerie Burn, Lynne Saunders, Jean Mintoft and Mark Fielding. We are all very different in our styles so lots for you to see. We will be open from 10am - 4pm daily 27th August to 4th September and entry is free.
There are 38 venues throughout the Tamar Valley with 67 artists taking part so do check them out at www.drawntothevalley.com and enjoy a tour around our stunning area.
Did you spot my article in Reclaim Magazine in June? It rather took me by surprise as the interview took place months before! Issue 72 if you're interested
I have completed commissions too like this cushion of Cadgwith Beach, all created from fabric with a beautiful dedication on the reverse with a second personalised picture. A beautiful piece to create. I have the image printed as cards now too along with Landulph Church.
An unusual request was for 2 Cornish bow brooches. I love it when I can buy locally so bought the ribbon at Piglets on Fore Street here in Saltash. They were for a very special occasion, the Buckingham Palace Garden Party, so although Mrs M is not quite by Royal Appointment it is very nearly!!
I promise to get the next post done a little more swiftly but in the meantime I hope to get to see some of you at our Open Studios starting next weekend.
Take care, Jx
